Plymouth City Council is putting its councillors’ Register of Interests online so it’s much easier for people to view.

Councillors are required to declare their financial and certain other interests in a register for everyone to see. Previously the Register was only kept in a paper copy format and people had to travel to the Council’s offices to view them.

Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Peter Smith said:”We want to see more openness and transparency in all the Council does and this is an important step towards that goal. The Register should be available online so it’s easier to access via our website rather than people having to travel to offices to see it.”

The Register shows what councillors’ interests are and can be viewed on each councillors' page on THE COUNCIL'S WEBSITE

“Plymouthking, this will make a Mark.

Assume that Tory Councillors are mostly freemasons and expect Labour Councillors to belong to a number of rewarding quangos. Both groups use influence to get on.”

“But will they disclose if they are 'freemasons' or not?”
