Plymouth Mega Ride wants to be part of 'Golden Week'
The organisers of Plymouth Mega Ride, the country's biggest charity motorcycle ride out, are hoping to move permanently move the event to the middle of August. The plan is that the Mega Ride will kick off a week of events in the city, going into the British Fireworks Championships and ending the following weekend with the Plymouth Flavour Fest.
"We hope that a golden week containing all three events will help bring tourists to the city and hopefully the later date will also mean that we will avoid the extreme weather that meant this year's Mega Ride had to be delayed till August," Organiser Rich Bounds said.

Plymouth Mega Ride ends with a parade along Plymouth Hoe. They have asked the council for permission to use the Hoe at the new date and are awaiting their decision.
"The organisers of the Mega Ride have asked to move the event to August and while the date has been provisionally booked, this has yet to be formally approved by the Council," a spokesperson for the council told thisisplymouth.

“Sounds like a good sensible idea, let's hope the council will agree.”

“A great idea. There should be one major event per week on the Hoe during the Summer”
