The team at Plymouth Pregnancy Crisis Centre were excited to hear that localgiving.com have launched another round of match funding.  Last year, volunteer Advisor, Julie Nash and the team raised nearly £7,000 in just four weeks when Plymouth's own Secret Millionaire, Marcelle Speller announced that all donations made through her website would be generously matched pound for pound!   Julie and Jane have set to work fundraising and letting supporters know that there has never been a better time to give, as every donation will be doubled until the £375,000 pot runs out!

The Centre was birthed in 2008 out of the vision of two women who saw the pain of those facing unplanned pregnancy and those suffering from post-abortion stress and baby loss.  Based in the city centre they offer free, confidential and impartial advice for those in pregnancy-related crises.

Jane Frajbis, who manages the 15 volunteer Advisors at the Centre said, "It is a privilege to work with these women who are in such vulnerable situations.  Last year was an incredibly challenging but exciting year for us, we supported nearly 500 contacts to the Centre, three times the number of the previous year! This is very emotive work and we have a wonderful group of committed, trained advisors who care deeply for these women in crisis."

Numbers have increased so dramatically that the PPCC Management Team is considering expansion of their current premises. Julie, who also Chair's the Management Team said, "We are using group work in our post-abortion recovery program which has been hugely beneficial and we see this really taking off.  In addition to this we are supporting increasing numbers of women who are facing difficulties after miscarriage and stillbirth. There is so much more we could do for these women given the right funding.  Localgiving.com has provided us with another fantastic opportunity to see our funds grow, but with around 1500 charities around the country now registered with the website, the match funding will be taken up quickly by donors."

One client summed it up like this in her feed back on the service, "Just keep doing what you are doing; without your help I don't really know where I would be right now. You threw me a life jacket when I was drowning and helped me keep my head above the water. Thank you."
