Upon arrival, the crews confirmed that a chimney in a two storey domestic property was on fire.
The firefighters used the so-called 135 ladder - usually the biggest ladder used by UK Fire & Rescue Services - a roof ladder and safety at height equipment to gain access to the top of the chimney and put it out.

“I meant burley near Totnes, which admittedly needs a capital B, but there are 21 year old triplets there, all of them strapping firemen, and I know from experience that they enjoy a brew and are always happy to accept my offer of a finger.”

“Either that or it's April 1st come early. Where, pray tell, is one supposed to light a fire if it is not under one's chimney? Mind you, I don't mind if lots of burley fireman turn up on a cold night. They usually love a cup of tea and a chocolate finger.”
