Several police cars were seen lined up outside the hotel, which is close to the city's famous Albert Dock, shortly after 10.30am on Saturday.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said that no one had been hurt during the incident.
All six men were later taken to a police station in Merseyside for questioning.
A spokesman for the force said the men were released on Sunday on police bail pending further inquiries.
