Plymouth blind bowler gets cash boost in bid to be world champion

A BLIND lawn bowls player has been given a cash boost in his campaign to become world champion.

Steve Cook, from Saltash, a member of Plymouth Visually Impaired Bowls Club, has been national champion for the past two years.

Now he is hoping to beat the world's best bowlers at the Blind Bowls World Championships in Worthing, West Sussex.

Nigel Rowe, of Plymouth Sports Forum, presented a cheque for £200 to Mr Cook at the Plymouth Life Centre. The cash is from The Herald's Making a Sporting Difference fund, with cash raised through the raffle at the annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards.
