The money was used to secure the running of regular coffee mornings to give families the chance to meet and share their experiences.
Chair Yvette Beer said: "We are run solely by volunteers and reliant on fundraising and grants like the Comic Relief grant to allow us the freedom to provide all our members with a forum and socially inclusive activities to reduce the isolation that deaf children and their families often experience when trying a new activity. The money we were awarded allowed us to fund a regular coffee morning for our members free of charge, sometimes with educational and informative workshops for parents.
"We are still in the process of purchasing a lending library of equipment and resources that our members can access at our meetings.
Yvette added: "The Comic Relief grant has allowed these coffee mornings to be a regular fixture of the group and a place where parents can come and feel at ease to discuss their worries or concerns with other parents with valuable past experiences. We feel the meetings are of a great value to the members who access the service, and we would like to thank Comic Relief for their generous award and everyone who has donated to such a worthy cause."
The Herald has teamed up with Comic Relief to dish out £50,000 to deserving causes in Plymouth from the Red Nose Day Community Cash Fund.
