Plymouth child rape charge man in court

A CITY man accused of raping a girl under the age of 16 has appeared before a judge for the first time.

Stewart Pearce, aged 26, faces four counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16, between May 21, 2011 and April 23, 2012.

Pearce, of Rochford Crescent, Ernesettle, is also accused of raping the girl between the same dates.

Judge Paul Darlow, sitting at Plymouth Crown Court, set a provisional date for a trial on May 13 next year. No pleas have yet been entered.

Pearce was released on conditional bail to appear at the court again for an interim hearing on February 4.

He must not contact the complainant, stay away from part of Plymouth and have no unsupervised contact with anybody aged under 18.
