POTHOLES have turned a Plympton cul de sac into something more like a rough track, say residents.

Jill Brown, who lives in Longacre in Woodford with her disabled husband, sent for Pothole Pete.

She told The Herald's resident campaigner that the road began to break up last year, well before the floods and icy weather.

"It's like going over a rough track and it doesn't do your car's suspension any good," said Mrs Brown. "The potholes have got progressively worse."

She said workmen from Amey, the council's roads contractor, came last week to repair two holes at one end of the road, but left several others untouched.

"This patching-up is ridiculous, but I know they can't resurface all the roads," Mrs Brown said. "Still, we have to pay our road tax."

Amey was unable to provide a comment.

“Its true there saving money to pay for the life centre,we should all stand together and say we,re not paying a penny in council tax till we see massive improvements. After all its a service we pay for a shop wouldn't let you walk out ,with out paying for it would they.NO so why do we have to put up with it ?. plus they most use grounded up old motorway surfaces to repair our roads, hence they don't last?.”

“Do you know I pay £99 per month on council tax. For that I only use The bins & the highways. My bins are not emptied properly i.e. rubbish left at bottom lid left open for rain to get in & then moved 2 doors away. Then the roads are breaking my car. Its time I started getting a rebate.”

“Potholes were repaired on Hillcrest Road Friday although what a waste of time that was as they are already almost back to the state they were. Spending just five minutes filling them with a little Tarmac just isn't man enough”
