More Plymouth flood misery as rain keeps on falling
HEAVY downpours returned to the city causing more flooding misery.
A spell of torrential rain swept through the region at about 11am on Monday, causing drains to overflow and leading to hazardous conditions on the roads.
Water rushed into several houses in Honicknowle Lane including the home of Michael and Susan Rapson.
Mr Rapson said: "When the rain came down we were worried. We have had flooding warnings permanently and the road started to flood.

"The water has got nowhere else to go but come in.
"It was two inches coming through the front door and into the kitchen."
The couple's house has flooded several times in recent years, including on Boxing Day last year.
Other victims in Honicknowle Lane included Mark Hart and Deborah Sloman (pictured) who were left mopping out their homes following the floods.
Deep puddles also appeared in Central Park, thought to be caused by blocked drains.
Speaking to The Herald on Monday afternoon, Dave Garland, who lives in Trelawney Road, said: "The main path from Barn Park Road up towards Plymouth Argyle is blocked. If it has been like this on Saturday when the match was on a lot of people wouldn't have been able to get up there. It's just a great big lake of brown, muddy water.
"There are some drains that are blocked but the council have not cleared them. This was just waiting to happen.
"This is not a one-off, this has been flooded on and off for months and months. I have lived here for seven years and I have never seen flooding this bad."
A spokeswoman for Plymouth City Council said: "The whole of the South West has experienced huge amounts of rain over the last month.
"In early December the drains in this area of the park were cleared but it is low-lying and the ground is saturated so water is running down and washing silt and leaves with it.
"A crew has carried out an initial inspection and further investigations will now be carried out with cameras down the drains to see what the problem is.
"Longer term, as part of the Central Park masterplan, there is a scheme to revamp the area to tackle the flooding issue."
Fire crews were called to attend several incidents across the area including a flooded property in Whitleigh.
Police closed Vinery Lane in Plympton between Sherford Road and Back Lane, and one lane of the A38 between the Forder Valley interchange and Marsh Mills was also shut.
The rail lines between Exeter and Barnstaple and between Liskeard and Looe remained closed on Monday afternoon.

“The main path from Barn Park Road up towards Plymouth Argyle is always like this every-time it rains..not just recently, the drainage in this area needs sorted out or failing that raising the level of the path, i am sick and tired of trudging ankle deep through water in this part EVERY TIME it rains.”
