Plymouth man Ian Neville appears in court on charge of murder
A MAN has appeared at magistrates court charged with the murder of a man at the rear of a dockyard pub.
Ian Neville, aged 47, stood before magistrates yesterday charged with the murder of Richard Brown, a 42-year-old from the Milehouse area of the city.
Neville, of Albert Road, Devonport, confirmed his name and age, as he stood in the dock at Plymouth Magistrates Court.
He had been arrested by police following an incident at The Complex public house in Keyham Road, shortly after 10pm on Tuesday.
The body of Mr Brown was discovered by the pub's landlord at the rear of the property following an alleged altercation inside.
Eoin McCarthy, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said the case was to be sent directly to Crown court for a preliminary hearing on March 25, with a plea and case management hearing set of June 17.
A bail application hearing was also scheduled for March 18 at Truro Crown Court to be heard before a circuit judge.
Chair of the magistrates Terence Glazier remanded Neville into custody.
