“For your information I have four fully comprehensive insurance policies. I borrowed a colleagues car thinking that I was covered third party. My hands free kit was in my main vehicle and I anserwed an emergency call from a family member as I pulled over.

I am disgusted at your narrow minded comments on a public forum about a situation where you know none of the details. Have you never made an innocent mistake in your life?

I pay over £2,500 a year for vehicle insurances and over £5,000 for other insurances so I am not somebody who doesnt pay for insurance. My licence was clean prior to this. I was the only person in court who wore a suit, I was the only person not swearing in the waiting area and I told the truth, admitted my mistake and took my punishment. My fine was paid within 3 hours.

So please consider yourself corrected and I would advise you to think about what you say before you commit it to a public website. I would respect your view a lot more if you had the decency to contact me personally.

    Keith Elliott”

“At 31 he's probably had 14 years of happy insurance free motoring. Shall we all do the same?”

“Should have given him a driving ban as well as he will carry on driving and will probably not get insured.”
