A MOTHER has appeared in court accused of cutting the feet of her baby son with a razor blade.

Rachael Thompson, aged 37, faced Plymouth magistrates charged with assaulting four-month-old Travis Parkins.

Thompson, of Channel Park Avenue, Efford, indicated ‘no plea’ to the allegation from September 15.

Gareth Warden, for the Crown Prosecution Service, told the court: “Miss Thompson went to Accident and Emergency with the baby on September 17.

“Doctors noticed two lacerations to the bottom of his heels, one a centimetre square and one 75 millimetres square. They are alleged to have been caused by a razor blade.”

Thompson, dressed smartly in black and white, spoke only to confirm her personal details during the five-minute hearing.

Magistrates ruled the case was so serious that it should be heard at Plymouth Crown Court.

Thompson was released on unconditional bail to return to face magistrates on December 7 while papers are prepared for a judge.
