Plymouth motorcyclist found dead in the road
A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in a horrific late-night accident in Devonport.
The 53-year-old Plymouth man was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle incident.
A passing driver called the emergency services at 12.50am yesterday after finding the man at the side of Park Avenue.
The accident took place near Devonport Park and the traffic lights at the junction of Ferry Road.
The victim, who has not been named, had been riding a green Triumph motorcycle.
Police and the ambulance service attended the scene and the man was pronounced dead.
It is believed he suffered severe head injuries.
Investigating officers are appealing for information about the incident.
A police spokesman said: "The single motorcyclist was found at the side of the road at about 12.50am.
"No other vehicles were thought to be involved.
"We would like to hear from any witnesses who either saw the incident or saw a green Triumph motorcycle in the area shortly before the incident.
"The motorcycle was coming from the direction of the city centre – perhaps someone saw the vehicle passing the petrol station, by the mini roundabout linking to Fore Street, shortly before the location of the incident."
The road was closed for around four hours while emergency services and collision investigators carried out their work.
The police spokesman said the man's next of kin were being informed yesterday and a formal identification was yet to be carried out.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 and quote log 26 of March 1.

“trumanmark, I commented because too many people over the past 12 months or more, have, regardless that victims have yet to be formerly identified have seen fit to name the victim prior to family members being informed, which in my eyes is wrong, anyway I am not getting into any more dialogue with you, no need to be sarky. Condolences to the family”

“Very sad news RIP Bill one of the old school
My sincere condolences to all Bill's friends and family.
CAN YOU FEEL THE WIND IN HEAVEN ?
Can you feel the wind in Heaven
Can you hear me call your name
Can you see the tears that fall
This world wont ever be the same
Can you feel the wind in Heaven
When we gather in our group
Can you hear the sound of silence
When we look where you once stood.
Can you feel the wind in Heaven
Can you hear the ladies cry
Can you feel our broken hearts
When we have to say goodbye
Can you feel the wind in Heaven
While the men hold back the tears
Leather clad and watery eyes
And know we'd rather have you here
I hope there is a Biker Heaven
And we will all meet again someday
I hope to feel the wind in Heaven
And will shake your hand again that day”
