At the time mum Stefanie, from Crownhill, said: "I wish we had known because we would have gone to the bookies and put a bet on!"
Paul added: "It's quite convenient because I now only have to remember one date for all of us.
"We never imagined it could happen but as the days approached it seemed more and more likely."
Now they are celebrating Oliver's first birthday, Stefanie's 27th and Paul's 29th.
Stefanie said they were having a family get-together for the big occasion.
She added: "Oliver is crawling now and nearly walking on his own.
"He can say the odd word, too.
"He'll have some friends there for a party on the big day and family, too."
When he was born she said: "'It is the best birthday present ever.
"Lots of our friends joked about the baby being born on our birthday, but we didn't think it would actually happen."
Paul, a primary school teacher, said: "We didn't open our birthday cards until two days later.
"The birthday celebration was lost in the excitement of the birth."
Maths expert Dr John Eales, of Plymouth University, said: "The chances of a couple and their first-born child sharing the same birthday are very slim – approximately one in 133,225 or 0.0000075."

“Surely the odds are 365-1 as there is only 365 days in year! The coulple can get together knowing their birthday is the same date and they can look to concieve around about the time needed for a due date to be on or around the 6th so I would imagine those odds can be significantly lowered again to probably about 20-1 or so!”
