Plymouth police hunt man who punched 10-year-old snowball thrower
POLICE are hunting for a motorist who punched a 10-year-old boy when his car was hit by a snowball.
The boy and his friends were throwing snowballs in Miller Way, Estover, on Tuesday afternoon when one hit a passing red car.
The driver stopped and approached the group before punching the 10-year-old boy in the head, police say.
The youngster, from Estover, suffered slight bruising to his hand after trying to defend himself.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault which happened at the bus stop near to the junction of Miller Way and Keswick Crescent around 4pm.
They are trying to trace the driver described as a white man in his early to mid 40s, around 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a black fleece and black trousers, and spoke with a foreign accent.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting crime reference EL/13/262.

“Kids get away with it because do-gooding adults call everything abuse and youngsters are not held accountable for their actions. It would clarify the situation if the man would write into the herald and give his acount of what happened, all we have is the boys side, which sounds a little lame at the moment - "The youngster, from Estover, suffered SLIGHT bruising to his hand after trying to defend himself."”

“DESTINY180280 yes ive read my statement thank you i wrote it........... Have you read the article????? Does it actually state the the child MEANT to throw the snowball at a passing car... No it doesnt! It also clearly states that the man punched the boy who substained injured to his hand due to defending himself. Sorry but as a mother im more concerned at the actions of a fully grown male who should understand the law not the fact that a 10year old boy and his friends were enjoying them self's in a bit of snow. If the snowball was meant to be thrown at passing cars then fine i understand the concerns of peoples lives at risk but nowhere in the article doe's it say it was on purpose nor does it condone the actions this man took.”

“why do people assume because a child has meant to have thrown a snowball that he is meant to be part of a group that has done this and that, the child didnt throw the snowball in the first place one of his friends did and i would appreciate you all stop running this child down as you can see from many comments this lad is actually one of the nice lads and im getting pretty fed up with everybody commenting nasty, Do you know this lad? no. Do you know his parents? no. Do you know how hes brought up? no i dont think you do. Do you know how this child behaves day to day or how he is looked after most of you who have commented dont, so keep your nasty opinions to yourself, unless you know the lad and parents you really have no right to make nasty and horrible comments end of story. o and most of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves and ask, 'where and what are my kids doing?'”

“GreenGOM, if you are trying to provoke me into an argument by making sweeping incorrect statements, it won't get you anywhere. I am not going to post further because, quite frankly, you are not worth my time.”
