Plymouth pupils take their seats for rowing machine contest
PLYMSTOCK School held the Plymouth City Indoor Rowing Championships which attracted a record turnout.
Eleven secondary and 27 primary schools from the Plymouth area raced for the top prize of competing in the next regional stage of the championships.
Over 579 pupils took part, topping last year's entry of 430.
In the primary contest, Old Priory Junior School took gold whilst in the 7-11 year groups Devonport High School for Boys edged the title over last year's winners Plymstock to advance to the Devon and West Regional Championships.

Kevin Sellar, a rowing coach, said: "Everyone who took part did themselves proud and I wish all the winners luck in the West Regional Championships and Nationals."
The Indoor Rowing Championships and prizes were sponsored by Plymouth Rowing Forum, Concept2, Mountbatten Water Sports Centre and a community grant from Plymstock and Radford district.
The Devon and West Regional Championships take place on March 4, with the National finals taking place in London on March 14/15.
