The team is made up of players who were attracted back to the sport after a period out of netball after they left school.

Their opting out was mainly to do with work or family commitments.

But Plymouth netball development officer Theresa Robinson said the returnees were having a ball.

She said: "Our BTN team have done very well and they've only been together this season. The players are from all different age ranges and some of them haven't played for quite some time."

The Back To Netball project originally envisaged a less competitive environment for women who wanted to get back into the sport.

But Robinson said there was a possibility another BTN team could be formed if there was a space for it in the Plymouth and District Netball League.

As reported in Herald Sport recently, the league – one of the biggest in the country – has a waiting list of teams wanting to join.

Robinson said: "Last year, there were teams waiting to get in, which is why we did Sunday sessions for players who don't want to play more competitive netball.

"We might set up another team, but we'd have to wait and see what happens in September, when new teams are allowed into the league."

Robinson is running a series of Back To Netball courses at the Life Centre, Whitleigh and at Marjon.
