The aim is to encourage slimmers to continue with their dieting efforts as well as raise as much as they can for the Hugs for Henry charity.

Henry Hallam, aged three, is in the middle of a brave fight with neuroblastoma and his family are trying to fundraise for Families Against Neuroblastoma (FAN).

Leanne Tancock, from the Ivybridge branch, said: "Every year Slimming World do a Slimathon where we try to gain as much sponsorship as possible for charity and get motivated to lose weight.

"After Christmas there's lots of energy and commitment to losing weight but then we find ourselves in a slump but before we know it it's summer again."

And Leanne is delighted her members picked the Hugs for Henry cause.

"This year we've chosen a local charity and money will go to a cause that's very close to all our hearts.

"Members are gaining sponsorship through choosing an amount of weight to lose or £1 sponsorship per pound lost. They're doing it individually and in groups."
