A WOMAN chased a burglar down the street after returning home from a night out to find him in her house.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the burglary at a house on Wilton Street, in Stoke, on Wednesday evening.

The offender is thought to have entered the property some time between 11.15pm and 11.30pm and was interrupted when the woman who lives at the house, and her friend, returned home.

One woman chased the burglar down Wilton Street towards The Co-op grocery store before turning right into Crawford Terrace and then taking a left into a rear service lane that runs parallel to Wilton Street, police said.
