As well as learning to ride their bikes, guided by instructors Roy and Karen, the 57 youngsters have also come on in leaps and bounds in their confidence, social skills and ability to listen.

Mrs Dowick-Kessell added: "It's the first time we have done anything like this before but we will do it again."

“I was one of those proud parents up Beechwood who thought seeing the look of accomplishment in my sons face riding past me is something to encourage in all our young children. With all the murders and violence going on in Plymouth today is nice to see something positive coming out of our young. Instead of slating the programme - encourage it. It benefits the children's abilities and social skills. It's a fantastic course for them which is fun filled of enjoyment for them. Leave your negative comments in the school playground!!”
