A LITTER pick has been arranged in Plympton and organisers are encouraging more residents to come forward.

The Plympton and District Civic Society have organised a number of litter picks and the next one has been arranged for March 17 at Harewood House at 10.30am.

The local Women's Institute also organises litter picks in Plympton.

Plympton resident John Boulden said: "Whenever I go out in the evening for a walk I always take a plastic carrier bag which I invariably fill by the time I return home and I know several others who do the same.

    “I commend you.

As the number of penalty notices issued in the last 12 months in Plymouth reveal there would seem to be very little appetite on the part of officials in enforcing the litter laws.

littering is unfortunately due to an undisciplined population in the UK and plymouth in particular.

Sadly it will only become worse in the future as a result of further liberalisation of society.”

“I do a weekly litter pick along the main road while I walk the dog. If more of us retired-but-fit people did the same, Plympton, if not the whole of Plymouth, could be litter-free.

I find most of the litter is discarded from cars passing through the area and other, more lazy, dog owners.”
