Police called to man threatening to jump from Plymouth's Tamar Bridge
POLICE and Coastguard crews were called to the Tamar Bridge this morning after reports that a man was threatening to jump into the river.
Officers attended the scene at about 6am along with members of the Tamar Coast Rescue Team and Ministry of Defence Police.

A police spokeswoman said the man came down from the bridge at about 7.15am and nobody was hurt.

“The vast majority of people who want to end it all must be in a desperate state.Whatever this man'sissues there are people out there to help him.I work in the rail industry and have had to deal with the aftermath of a fatality on the railway and believe me it is not a nice experience. Comments from people such as theparcel are most unhelpful.”

“Horrible when you hear these things..I know someone who threatened to do this 3 times before actually going through with it and he eventually killed himself...He was a very strong, contented and happy go lucky person, until he was hit with some terrible issues in his life, he just couldn't cope. Mental Health is a very serious condition and can happen to anyone (nobody knows what is around the corner and how they will deal with certain issues until it hits them)...I really do hope this man receives help and can get out of the dark cloud he is obviously under.”
