POTHOLE Pete's famous yellow wellies proved essential when he visited this deep pothole at Ernesettle.
Pete, whose Movember moustache is flourishing, was called out by resident Rod Carpenter.

Pothole Pete examines a pothole in Hawkinge Gardens, Ernesettle
Rod, 83 and a retired Devonport Dockyard master rigger, spotted the flooded hole at the junction of Hawkinge Gardens and St Eval Place near his home.
"It's in the middle of the road, and as you come round the bend you can land yourself in it," he said.

"It knocks seven bells out of your suspension, and there are marks on the road where lorries have grounded."
Veronica Newport, a spokeswoman for Plymouth City Council's road repairs contractor Amey, said: "The Plymouth Watchman team has confirmed that no pothole had previously been reported in Ernesettle.
"Our on-call gang will go out to the site today and, if required, carry out a repair."
Rod later emailed Pete, telling him: "Many thanks for your response....pothole was filled in today.. job well done."
Report a problem to Pothole Pete on 01752 765529 and you can follow him on Twitter on @Pothole_Pete.

“The simplest solution is to fill in potholes ourselves using toothpaste. If everyone in the street contributes one tube you can layer it gradually until the hole is filled and then paint it the same colour as the road using a tester pot. That's what happens here in Mannamead and I think what we are seeing here is an example of the breakdown of community spirit.”

“did pot hole Pete apply for this job?
how much does he earn?
were equal opportunities considered?
where does he get his uniform from? M&S!!!
does he pay tax on his uniform?
he does seem to be doing a good job...unlike the hole fillers...are there any???
what about pot hole Doris as well in the interests of equality...
3 cheers for Pete and hopefully Doris...

“Tim the reason I don't contact the council is because most roads are such a state of disrepair I have given up reporting it, remember filling in a pot should be considered only a temporary repair until the road gets a permanent repair i.e. a total resurface, so POTHOLE Pete can go around shouting about pot holes, but I suspect most of us would like to see a proper program set up to start resurfacing our roads in a proper manner and not just a quick fix.”

“At last they have a photo of him standing next to an actual pothole!
It's still beggars belief that people contact the paper before they bother telling the council.”
