Potholes outside Plymouth nursery 'a danger to children'
THE city council has reacted to repeat problems with potholes which a local nursery claimed was a danger to children.
Parents and employees at Pixieland Day Nursery on Springfield Drive, in Stoke, complained after seeing workers filling in the holes on four separate occasions in under a year.

Karen Hallet, a room leader at the nursery said: "Workers have been out here to fill them in four or five times. It lasts a day or two and then comes out."
Accounts manager Jo said: "I have accidentally fallen into the pot holes – they're like the Grand Canyon for the children we look after.

"Parents have also damaged their cars. It's ridiculous the amount of times it has been redone."
A spokesperson for Plymouth City Council and Amey, the company they employ to do the work, last night said: "Our watchman team received reports of potholes on Springfield Drive on four occasions in June, October and November 2012. On all four occasions the road was inspected within 24 hours and temporary repairs were carried out to make the site safe for road users.
"Unfortunately, we have had such a large number of defects to mend in recent months that we have not always been able to follow up with the necessary permanent repairs.
"We've just completed a permanent repair on Springfield Drive today, following a pothole report and inspection earlier this week. A section of the carriageway is also scheduled to be resurfaced later this month as part of our reactive programme of patching works."
