A FORMER TV producer has set herself up in business as a content strategist and brand builder.

For those not au fait with the corporate jargon it means Sarah Russell helps businesses use the internet to attract customers.

Miss Russell's new venture is called 3ivision and she tags it "connecting the dots between brand and consumer".

The 27-year-old from Stoke said: "I help businesses get found online, to connect them with buying customers and convert them to brand evangelists that will champion the brand.

"It's using platforms like social networking websites and blogging, and search engine optimisation and analysis to know what's working. Everything is measurable and quantifiable."

Miss Russell previously worked for Plymouth-based broadcast television company and digital agency Twofour for three years, including as an assistant producer.

She followed this with a spell as communications manager at the charity Wild Futures, the charity which runs the Monkey Sanctuary, near Looe.

But she decided to set up her own company to make the most of her skills and push them further.

"I wanted to develop and expand my skills set and knowledge," she said.

"I have developed a lot of skills in business. Being employed only used one part of my skills set, but by being self employed I can use all the tools in my box."

Miss Russell set up 3ivision at the beginning of the year, with the help of business start-up organisation Outset Plymouth, and said: "It's really exciting. I have been working with great businesses, small, medium and large, all over the country."

However, she said the hardest thing about self-employment is "being on your own" and added: "I'm a social person so it can be quite lonely.

"And you are doing everything, the business development, marketing, account management, admin, finance.

"It's demanding, but rewarding, and teaches you what you are capable of."

Miss Russell is now working with Outset Plymouth and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to mentor young entrepreneurs to bring out their "passion and entrepreneurial spirit".

"A lot of people don't think about what they are capable of," she said. "But they need to pursue those dreams. The economy needs people to be entrepreneurs, that will get the economy back on track."

“Article quote-'she said the hardest thing about self-employment is being on your own'..

Look on the bright side luv, at least you ain't got a boss breathing down your neck.
And doing your own admin/finance means you won't have employees fingers in the till behind your back..;)”

“Would anyone care for a game of Management Bulls**t Bingo? It's such fun!

How do you pronounce it then?
I like how Nevman's point was addressed by answering something he didn't ask.”

“Hi Nevman, sorry my brand name is giving you trouble - you are indeed right that a key part of branding is making sure that people understand who you are and what you're business is about. 3ivision is about inspiring people to achieve their business vision by igniting their passion and helping them make an impact on the market place, hence 3i - vision. It would be great to hear about your business, what do you do?”

“I may not have reached the dizzy heights of associate producer, but it seems to me that one of the key factors in brand building might be a company name that people can actually pronounce.”
