PRIMARY school children gained hands-on experience of life in a Chinese restaurant, as part of an unusual project.

As part of Hyde Park Junior School's China Week, the year 4 children visited The View Pan Asia Restaurant in Royal Parade.

As well as helping to create dishes and assist the chefs, the children also got to grips with chopsticks and sampled the food.

They were invited to have a look around the restaurant and its kitchens.

Yenics Wong, from The View Pan Asia Restaurant, said: "We were really happy to host the children and we were happy to be interacting with them.

"I think they learned a lot from the visit."

The primary school is developing its project on Chinese culture to celebrate its link to a Chinese school.
