CHILDREN who will move from their Plymouth primary school in a month's time have been making audio recordings.

Pupils at High View Primary School in Efford have recorded their memories for prosperity as they prepare to move to a new site.

High View, an amalgamation of Highfield and Plym View schools, is due to move to a new building in Torridge Way over the next four weeks.

The current school in Blandford Road will be demolished after the move has been made.

Pupils and staff wanted to record their memories of the school as well as their feelings about the move and the school's future.

Sound artist Tony Whitehead has been working with teachers, teaching assistants and children on the project.

The final recordings will be uploaded next month onto a website called aporee.org which will keep the recordings as part of a map of the area.

Teaching assistant Gemma Ward said: "We wanted to create an audio memory of the school, which also includes ambient noises.

"It is something a bit different. It will be a lasting legacy of the school before it is demolished.

"It has been a really exciting project as the staff and children prepare for their move."
