The win, in front of an electric full house at the Pavilions, improves Raiders' record to 12-5 in fourth spot in the standings, three wins back from 15-2 leaders Newcastle Eagles.

Coach Gavin Love's team have now won their last four league games.

Raiders looked to have won it after a 22-7 run, through the first half of the fourth quarter put them eight points, 89-81 up.

Back-up forward Jamal Williams came off Raiders' bench and proved a great spark, scoring nine in the streak.

Giants responded with a 14-6 rally, capped by 2/2 free-throws from Ben Eaves, under huge pressure with 9.5 seconds left, to force the first extra period.

Raiders got on top for good with a three from rookie forward Javarris Barnett – who had a monster night and game-high 30 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists – to put Raiders up by five, 113-108.

Raiders' defence was getting the stops they needed now.

Barnett tried to hit another three from the left wing on Raiders' next possession and missed – but centre Matt Schneck was on hand to grab the offensive rebound and draw the foul.

Schneck hit both free-throws to make it 115-108 and put Raiders out of sight.

A happy Love said afterwards: "I loved the fact we showed huge heart tonight and refused to lose. I loved that."
