Rape trial jury set to return verdict

A JURY will today return to court to consider its verdicts on a student accused of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third.

The panel was sent out yesterday afternoon at Plymouth Crown Court to consider its verdict on 28-year-old Christian Egeonu, pictured below.

The jury was due to continue its deliberations today.

Egeonu, of Kingsley Road, Mutley, denies raping a woman at his former home in Ermington Terrace, Mutley, between July 19 and July 23 last year.

He also denies raping another woman in Somerset between October 6 and October 10, 2011, and sexually assaulting the third woman in West Hoe on October 16 last year.

The trial opened last Wednesday.
