Real ale pubs are toast of the town
TEN Plymouth area pubs have made it into this year's Good Beer Guide for the first time.
The guide lists 4,500 of the country's best real ale pubs, including nearly 200 in Devon and Cornwall.

And this year the Plymouth branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which publishes the guide, has nominated 10 new entries for the 40th anniversary edition.
Now included are the Swan Inn, in St Andrews Street; the Bridge Inn, at Ivybridge; Burrator Inn, Dousland; Dolphin Inn, Kingston; East Dart Hotel, Postbridge; Horse and Groom, Bittaford; Olde Plough, Bere Ferrers; Swan Inn, Noss Mayo; White Thorn, Shaugh Prior; and Union Inn, Plympton.

Pubs are nominated at a meeting, CAMRA members visit each one, judging the pub on the quality of its real ales. At another meeting members discuss each pub and then cast their votes.
The South West Regional Pub of the Year is Tom Cobley Tavern, in Spreyton.
The Plymouth Branch Pub of the Year is the Foxhound Inn, Brixton, and its City Pub of The Year is the Prince Maurice, Eggbuckland.
