Regatta was a resounding feast of fun
A FANCY dress race "to England and back", councillors rowing for their towns and 300 kilos of French strawberries delighted crowds at Saltash Regatta.
Serving members of the armed forces joined veterans in the parade on Saturday, along with bands, morris dancers and a Shire horse.

Yesterday, the fire service team won the "England and back" race, which crosses the Tamar, with a team called Blazing Paddles.
The youth cup was won by the fire cadets.
Organiser Joe Ellison said: "It's been great. We had a cloudburst on Sunday afternoon which meant we had to finish a little bit early, but we had a lot of people out on Saturday." This year, Saltash's twin town of Plougastel in Brittany sent over 300 kilos of strawberries in a 19th century lugger.
The five towns gig race between the towns of South East Cornwall was held for the second time this year and was won by Looe, with Saltash in second place. The teams of four oars and a cox are drawn from serving councillors and their partners. See tomorrow for pictures.
