Regional pay in NHS to be debated
NHS regional pay is to be debated by key representatives from health organisations at a special meeting organised by the local authority.
Plymouth City Council has arranged to bring together representatives from the Royal College of Midwives, Royal College of Nurses, British Medical Association, Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Plymouth University and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce to debate NHS regional pay in Plymouth.
Councillor Mary Aspinall, chair of the health and adult social care overview and scrutiny committee, said: "This is a very important issue and I'm very pleased we have key people from so many organisations attending the meeting.
"The public sector is such a huge employer in the south west this is a debate that will affect many people's lives."

“Why should people in a low waged area be paid less just because of where they live? This is typical Tory policy feeding into the management of the NHS. Apart from lowering the incomes of those concerned it will mean less money being spent in the region so the region's economy will suffer. How short sighted can you get?”
