PLYMOUTH city centre will once again resound to world sounds this weekend when the Respect Festival returns to deliver an exotic mix of live performances, representing the plethora of diverse cultures which are found within the city.

Now in its 13th year, the festival will kick start with Rhythms 4 Respect, an evening of dance and music between 5pm and 11pm at the Plymouth Guildhall, featuring live Salsa from Siga La Salsa, African vibes from Chimanimani and ska music from Too Hot.

Tickets cost £5 and are available from Vibes Music and the Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Office or on the door on the night. A licensed bar and food will be on offer.

Then on Sunday, the Respect Parade returns, starting at 10am by the Sundial.

Coordinated by Barefoot, it will feature one hundred young people and their families from seven different schools, Emerge Circus Group and UCP Marjon International Students. The theme of the parade is Fire and Heat, so dress up in appropriate gear and come join the party.

The Respect Parade will end at Plymouth Guildhall at 11am when the festival gets underway with live music from the unmissable Pearl of Africa Children's Choir, plus other live shows, stalls, workshops, world food, and activities for children and much more besides.

Anyone wanting to join in might like to have a go at the free Zumba sessions, run by Claire Batten of Zumba Zone. Including a variety of different world dance moves, these sessions are great fun and open to people of any age and ability.

The first session will happen on Saturday at 2pm and the second will take place on Sunday at 1pm in the Civic Piazza in front of Plymouth Guildhall.
