School flies the flag for world's games
THE OLYMPIC spirit came to city primary school when it held a sports week with a difference.
The 365 children at Lipson Vale School were divided into 50 national teams of about seven, each containing a mix of children aged five to 11.
After learning about their country, they worked in teams to make flags and banners.
They took part in outdoor and indoor activities including sports and problem-solving, with extra points given for teamwork and involvement The week ended with a parade from the school to Lipson Community College and back, followed by an Olympic-style medal presentation with gold, silver and bronze medals.
