The news was welcomed particularly by the new deputy headteacher at saltash.net, Dan Buckley.

Mr Buckley's previous work with the Microsoft Partners in the Learning for Schools programme had seen him mentoring staff and students from saltash.net throughout 2011-12, as they embarked on a new technologies initiative called "Cre8agame".

The success of this student-focused online games development project led to the school being identified as the UK's chosen mentor school at the end of the summer term 2012.

Mr Buckley said: "The creativity and ingenuity of students and staff at saltash.net impressed global leaders in education so much last year that they now want the world to meet them in person.

"This is an excellent opportunity for the school, and one which will not only allow our students and staff to gain the recognition they deserve on a global stage but also provide them with excellent ideas from all over the world."
