School's outstanding Ofsted report
A CITY primary school has received a glowing report from education watchdog Ofsted.
High View Primary School in Efford was praised for its outstanding leadership and care provision as well as an ability to support the progression of children in the classroom.
Overall, out of the 31 categories the education site, which was formed in September 2009 to replace Highfield and Plym View schools, received 25 outstanding grades, five good grades and one satisfactory for attendance.
The Ofsted inspectors spoke with governors, staff and pupils, examining all aspects of the school's paperwork including safeguarding procedures and organisational arrangements.
"High View Primary School is highly successful and its overall effectiveness is outstanding," reads the report.
"The school has very successfully promoted equality of opportunity, so that potentially vulnerable groups of pupils are targeted and supported extremely well."
The report also commends the school for a curriculum that is 'clearly mapped out and organised', for teachers having 'strong subject knowledge and a 'wide range of teaching methods'.
"Everyone at the school is delighted with this judgement, as we have worked so hard to make the amalgamation and the two moves run as smoothly as possible, whilst maintaining aspirational educational standards," said Kim Dorian-Kemp, headteacher at High View.
"I am very proud of the staff, children, parents, governors and community members, who have all played a vital part in our success. Efford's community deserves an outstanding school. We will continue to grow and build upon our success in our lovely new building."
