A TALENTED young musician has been chosen to join a national band.

Twelve-year-old Tom Webb, a Plymstock School pupil, has been selected to join The National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain.

Tom has been a member of the Plymouth Soundhouse Youth Brass Band, run by Plymouth City Council's Youth Music Service, since 2009.

The youngster began his musical career by playing a tenor horn and has made rapid progress to the point where he recently auditioned for one of only six places in the national ensemble.
