Plymouth man charged with murder over Keyham pub death
Plymouth man Ian Neville has been charged with murder following the death of 42-year-old Richard Brown outside a Plymouth pub.
It is the second separate murder investigation launched by police in the city within 24 hours.
Police probing the latest death were called by the landlord of The Complex public house, in Keyham Road, Keyham, shortly after 10pm on Tuesday after he discovered the body of a 42-year-old man, now named as Richard Brown, at the rear of the building, which is near the Albert Gate at HM Naval Base Devonport.
After the discovery of the body a 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to Charles Cross police station for questioning.
Last night police charged Ian Neville with the murder of Richard Brown, who lived in the Milehouse area of Plymouth.
Police say Mr Brown's family is being supported by specially trained officers.
Police said the two men were known to each other.
Det Supt Keith Perkin said the investigation – codenamed Operation Luggage – was "in its early stages".
He said a forensic post-mortem was being carried out to determine how the 42-year-old died.
Yesterday morning officers had taped off the car park to flats next to the pub on the corner of Clarence Place.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting police log number 730 of 12/03/13.
