NO SURPRISES expected from the Rectory tomorrow, where Devonport Services host local rivals Kingsbridge.

Services are smarting after failing to take both points from bottom outfit Withycombe at home last week and will want to improve on their 16-16 draw.

The danger, however, is that because both sets of players know each other reasonably well, they may cancel each other out.

Services team manager Dave Burgess admitted the city side, 11th in a 14-strong league, could do with a win.

But he added: "Kingsbridge will be a tough match for us – they're going pretty well at the moment.

"There will be no great surprises from the game, because our younger players know their colts and vice-versa."

Burgess said the team had been disappointed with dropping a point against Withycombe: "We've got to try and be a bit more streetwise this week. Our forwards did well in the line-outs, but didn't do very much with it when they got into a good position.

"I am hoping we will improve and use the ball better."

Services are waiting on some last-minute availability issues to resolve themselves before announcing their line-up.

Devonport Services (from): C Ranscombe, D Hall, S Sheldon, J Hannaford, B Ashford, M Anstis, M Lane, S Smith, J Gerraty, T Sibley, S Bartlett, J Martin, M Gregory, J Page (capt), D Chorley, S Hammond, M Andrews, K Leach.

TAVISTOCK have the job of putting the bottom team back in their place at Withycombe tomorrow.

The West Devon outfit, so far, have shown a tendency to do better away from home than at Sandy Park.

Tavvy have drawn two and won one away – their first victory of the season coming at Penryn last Saturday.

In contrast to Saturday's 26-16 win in Cornwall, Tavistock have lost at home to Newton Abbot and, painfully, against derby rivals Okehampton.

Tavistock (probable from): D Lloyd, M Hennessey, J Kaminski, M Wicher, D Luffman, R West, A Moy, M Kerswell, W Tompkins, M Martin, A Hunt, J Bruner, W Brown, D Law, B Williams, T Childs, E Williams, A Wright.
