HOMEGROWN folk hero Seth Lakeman, right, is celebrating after his latest album officially checked in at number eight in the album charts yesterday.

A staggering 13,000 albums have been sold since Seth's fourth album, Poor Man's Heaven, was released last Monday.

Seth had been hoping for an entry into the top 20, but confessed to being “completely bowled over” earlier this week when the midweek chart revealed that the album had shot straight into the top ten, pitching in at number six.

But sales with albums from Neil Diamond and My Chemical Romance pushed Seth down two pegs to number eight, still a remarkable achievement for a folk album.

Seth's official placing was revealed on Radio One last night.

Last night, Seth said: “I'm overjoyed. To be up there in the top ten with the likes of Coldplay, Neil Diamond and My Chemical Romance is just amazing. I'm really pleased.”
