Shoppers enjoy a taste of Europe
BONJOUR, Guten Tag, Salve – whatever the language, Plymouth said welcome to the return of the Continental Market.
The city centre was once again transformed into a bustling continental market, bringing traders from across Europe with their fine food, drink and crafts.
The market, located on Armada Way and Place de Brest, allowed visitors four days to try everything from German baked goods, cheeses and wines to Eastern Mediterranean pastries and breads and Belgian chocolate. It also featured arts, crafts and fashions.
Organised by Plymouth City Centre Company and Market Place Europe, it was the second of four continental markets to visit the city, the first being in late September with two more scheduled to take place in February and April next year.

“Sigh.... oh dear, oh dear Herald, whatever the language, NONE of those words mean 'Welcome'! Either your 'reporter' meant to say that Plymouth says 'Hello' to the return of the Continental Market, or they meant 'Bienvenue! Wilkommen! Bienvenuta!' In these days of Google Translate - there really is no excuse for such sloppy journalism!”
