Shoppers in pyjamas have no self-respect
IN SIX months time I will be three score years and ten, and I thought that during my lifetime I had seen it all – not a bit.
I went out to Tesco's at Woolwell at 10am today (January 29) and saw two young ladies (I would have called them something else if this were not a family newspaper) getting out of their car in pyjamas, Ugg boot type slippers, and dressing gowns, and if that were not enough, pushing their children around in a trolley all dressed similarly, one with a dummy in her mouth doing shopping.
Have these people no self respect, not just for themselves, but also for other people using the store? Frankly I thought it was disgrace and a shame to this country that young people probably only on their late teens or early 20s neither have the time or the decency to not only dress themselves in suitable attire, but their children also who must have been wet and cold. Frankly they should have been ashamed of themselves, and typical of the young irresponsible people of today.
I was so flabbergasted that I said to this gentleman, 'I thought I had seen it all', and he replied, 'you and I are paying for the likes of them', and when I pick up my meagre old age pension I can only but agree.

“Uh, excuse me for asking...it's seems harmless? Does it not? It is better than those who like to show their bare naked flesh? Offending those people with their flabby bits and whatever; I'm not going to go there!
Come on, let's not get so uptight with such daft letters and comments.
It beats nudity, who wants to see that? I wouldn't want to see that kind of sight unless I'm happening to be passing on a nudist beach...Chill out.”

“Sadly this activity is not uncommon. I recall seeing a neighbour (who was a nurse at Derriford) jump into her car wearing pyjamas, dressing gown and slippers - and heading off down the road as if her actions were normal. My thoughts at the time were: 'If this is a nurse, what are the hygiene standards at the hospital like?' Interestingly, I saw her arrive home one morning in a taxi - still in her pyjamas a couple of weeks after that. I asked no questions.
My mother who was a nurse in the 1950s, was disciplined for having her red cape ribbons crossed the wrong way over when Matron saw her one day as she rushed to be on duty for a major road accident. What a different world we are living in.”
