PROBABLY the quirkiest event of the Marine City Festival splashes down at Tinside Lido next Friday.

The open air pool is the setting for a community event offering a salty taster of the pleasures to come in the festival proper.

There's the chance to swim or snorkel in the art deco Lido, catch short films, take a look at exhibitions and a photo gallery and tuck into food from the cultural kitchen.

The Blue Sound Project continues its mission to reconnect communities with the sea by organising the event, which is tagged as a celebration of the Plymouth Sound and Estuaries European Marine Site. The focus is on marine life.

“Why does the photo not show 30ft waves crashing over the walls in order to prepare people for what to expect on the day?”
