A MAN was treated after inhaling smoke from an early-morning chip pan fire – one of three weekend blazes involving cookers.

Firefighters were called to a house in Wordsworth Crescent, North Prospect, at about 6.45am on Saturday.

Crew manager Dan Morgan from Camels Head said a 26-year-old man and his mother were already out of the house.

Mr Morgan appealed to people to check their smoke alarms.

Crownhill firefighters later went to a ground floor flat in Whin Bank Road after a smoke alarm was set off. A small fire involving a cooker was out by the time they arrived.

And Greenbank firefighters yesterday attended a small fire in a house in Lipson Road, St Judes.

“Why was the man cooking anyway?
    That's woman's work.
    Right girls?
    :-)”
