SWIMMERS are being urged to make a splash by signing up for a charity event this summer.

The Chestnut Appeal, which raises money for prostate cancer research, needs about 200 keen participants for its Swim the Sound event on August 18.

The annual two-and-a-half mile swim from the Plymouth Breakwater to Plymouth Hoe gives the charity a cash boost and raises awareness of prostate cancer.

Charity manager Lesley-Ann Simpson said: "Such is the interest in our 'Swim the Sound' fundraiser we thought we would set ourselves the challenge this year of doubling the numbers of those taking part.
