FURTHER investigations have been carried out on the sewers of one of the main routes into Plymouth.

South West Water has carried out further CCTV camera investigations in the sewers under Gdynia Way to reassure all the authorities involved that there are no further major blockages on the sewer network.

The work took place last night from 7pm, with the closure of one incoming and one outgoing lane of traffic.

Work was expected to continue until midnight.

Last week Gdynia Way was closed by flooding for more than seven hours on Wednesday, and again on Thursday. On Saturday South West Water engineers, using CCTV cameras, found what they believe caused the blockage.

A lump of mortar and rubble almost the size of a kitchen sink was found in a sewer near Barbican Approach. However only hours later the road was flooded and closed again.

    “And???

Radio Plymouth gave out the results some 4 hours ago so SWW must have issued a statement to accompany the observations of the reporter you sent and the photographs of leading politicians, council officers and executives of the various companies concerned who would have shown some interest in the proceedings. The work concluded around 11pm yesterday.”
