Staff get the ball rolling with move
HOSPITAL staff took the "eye road" to their new home at Derriford.
The men and women from the Royal Eye Infirmary rolled a giant inflatable eyeball from their 100-year-old Mutley base to a £5million purpose-built facility at Derriford Hospital yesterday. They were officially welcomed by Ann James, chief executive of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

With more than 50,000 patients a year now using the Royal Eye Infirmary, the old Apsley Road building became too cramped. The Derriford centre has two new operating theatres incorporating the latest technology.
