Stay Safe invite to residents
PLYMPTON residents are being encouraged to attend a community event to help them be safer at home, online or out and about.
The Plympton Neighbourhood policing team are hosting the annual, and increasingly popular, Stay Safe event at Harewood House on January 29 from 7pm.
The free event will see a number of local groups and associations offer advice and tips to residents – especially the elderly and vulnerable – on how to avoid danger as well as how to be wise to conmen and front-door tricksters.
In addition to the neighbourhood officers, visitors can get help from staff from Age Concern, road safety experts, Street Pastors, the fire service, South West Water's Bogus Caller Team as well as the Plympton police community cadets and the police's Road Crime Unit who will be conducting free eyesight tests. As an added enticement, the free event will have free refreshments and a free raffle.

PCSO Helen Gilpin said: "Each year we run the Stay Safe event it has been a great success with a growing number of people coming along to learn different ways to safeguard themselves. Our aim is to bring together people of all ages from across the community and offer them practical advice on how they can help themselves, and each other, stay safe."
