Steel in place for beginnings of Life
WORK is well under way to put a roof over the pool area of the £46.5million Life Centre in Central Park.
The white structural steelwork trusses have been installed over the leisure pool and main 50-metre swimming pool. The final casting of the main pool should be ready for testing in a few weeks.
The first two diving boards in the state of the art diving pool will be cast this month.
The main hall floor casting is nearly complete, after delays caused by freezing weather. Roof works in the same area are more than halfway complete.
Contractors Balfour Beatty will also be starting the mechanical and electrical works. Work on the external fabric of the building will also begin this month, starting on the park and ride side and working in a clockwise direction.
A council spokeswoman said: "Progress has been continuing despite continually challenging weather over recent weeks."

“What an eyesore on what was once a beautiful park.
Have they considered that putting steel and glass over the pool isn't a good idea, steel expands and contracts and the glass will shatter, as well as the water in the pool causing condensation and corosion, isn't that why the RN Navy pool at Roborough was closed?”
